With all the food and pet products now coming from China, it is best to make sure you read label at the supermarket and especially Walmart (ASDA - US owned) when buying food products.Many products no longer show where they were made, only give where the distributor is located.The whole world is concerned about China-made "black hearted goods".
Can you differentiate which one is made in Taiwan or China ?The world is also concerned about GM (Genetically Modified) foods; steroid fed animals etc in USA.

If the first 3 digits of the barcode are 690 691 or692, the product is MADE IN CHINA.  471 is Made in Taiwan .If the first 3 digits of the barcode are 00 - 09 then it's made or sourced in USAThis is our right to know, but the government and related departments never educate the public, therefore we have to RESCUE ourselves.

Nowadays, Chinese businessmen know that consumers do not prefer products "MADE IN CHINA", so they don't show from which country it is made.

However, you may now refer to the barcode - remember if the first 3 digits are:

Troubleshooting OC4J in R12

Common problems and solutions :

java.lang.OutOfMemory Errors :

Increase the heap size for the OC4J process to the desired amount of memory at OC4J startup:

java -Xms512m -Xmx512m -jar oc4j.jar

If running in an OPMN managed environment these JVM settings are defined within a tag the opmn.xml configuration file. For example:

If running under Unix/Linux, verify that ulimit settings allow the JVM process to allocate this much memory.

Application Performance Impacted by Garbage Collection Pauses

Problem

An application running on OC4J appears unresponsive, with simple requests experiencing noticeable delays. The cause is that the JVM has crossed the low memory threshold and is running a full garbage collection to free up memory.

Solution

Consider using the incremental low pause collector, which avoids long major garbage collection pauses by doing portions of the major collection work at each minor collection. This collector (also known as the train collector) collects portions of the tenured generation - a memory pool holding objects that are typically collected in a major collection - at each minor collection. The result is shorter pauses spread over many minor collections.
Note that the incremental collector is even slower than the default tenured generation collector when considering overall throughput.
To use the incremental collector, the -Xincgc option must be passed in on the Java command line at application startup. Set the initial and maximum size of the young generation (object pool) to the same value using the XX:NewSize and -XX:MaxNewSize options. Set the initial and the maximum Java heap sizes to the same value using the -Xms and-Xmx options.
For example, to use this collector with a server with 1 GB of physical memory:

java -server -Xincgc -XX:NewSize=64m -XX:MaxNewSize=64m -Xms512m -Xmx512m

Invalid or Unneeded Library Elements Degrading Performance

Problem

If the OC4J process memory is growing consistently during program execution, then you may have references to invalid symbolic links in your global application.xml file. This problem is usually characterized by a growth in the C heap and not a growth in Java object memory, as one would see with a more traditional Java object memory leak. OC4J loads all resources using the links in the application.xml file. If these links are invalid, then the C heap continues to grow, causing OC4J to run out of memory.

Solution

Ensure that all symbolic links are valid, and restart OC4J.
In addition, keep the number of JAR files OC4J is configured to load to a minimum. Eliminate all unused JAR files from the configuration and from the directories OC4J is configured to search. OC4J searches all JAR files for classes and resources, thereby causing the file cache to use extra memory and processor time.

ClassCastExceptions and ClassNotFound Errors

Problem

Most class loading errors are related to class visibility—either too much or not enough. Collisions between classes packaged in multiple JARs or inherited by default from parent applications can be a problem.

Solution

Chapter 3: Utilizing the OC4J Class Loading Framework in the Oracle Containers for J2EE Developer's Guide contains detailed documentation on avoiding and troubleshooting class loading-related issues. It also explains how you can use shared libraries to avoid many of these issues within OC4J.

OC4J Fails to Start: Unable to Find Java Compiler

Problem

An error similar to the one below is seen at OC4J startup:

Solution

The error indicates that OC4J is unable to locate the required JDK. To resolve this issue, start OC4J from the javac.exe location on the command line. This will set the location of the JDK.
For example:

C:\ORACLE_HOME\j2ee\home\C:\\bin\java -jar oc4j.jar

Error Occurs When Clustering an Application

Problem

The following error is thrown when clustering is configured for an application:

WARNING: The service implementation  does not implement
java.io.Serializable. *This class is not suitable for clustered environments*
indicated by recoverable=true.

Solution

This error indicates that the class is not serializable, and therefore cannot utilize the OC4J replication framework.

Error When Downgrading from JDK 5.0 to JDK 1.4.2

Problem

The following error occurs when configuring an OPMN-managed OC4J instance installed as a component of Oracle Application Server, which uses the JDK 5.0 by default, to use the JDK 1.4.2.

oracle.oc4j.loader.util.AnnotatedLinkageError:
MBeanServerEjbHome_StatefulSessionHomeWrapper1 (Unsupported major.minor
version 49.0)

Solution

An OPMN-managed OC4J instance installed as a component of Oracle Application Server will use the JDK 5.0 by default. This new version of the JDK is required to utilize EJB 3.0 and offers numerous performance improvements. However, if applications that will be deployed to OC4J require a JDK 1.4.2 release, it may be necessary to "downgrade" to the earlier version.
Before switching from JDK 5.0 to JDK 1.4.2, you must remove all compiled application files from the OC4J instance. To do this:

Stop the OC4J instance.
Delete the ORACLE_HOME/j2ee/instance/application-deployments directory.
Deleting this directory will cause the application files to be re-compiled when OC4J is re-started with the JDK 1.4.2.

OC4J Hangs When Starting Applications in Oracle Application Server

Problem

In an OPMN-managed environment, OPMN appears to "hang" while trying to start OC4J, resulting in a error similar to the following:

Solution

An application that requires significant resources—such as an application that attempts to acquire multiple database connections for its various components—can cause OC4J to fail to start. You can manage this by specifying the maximum amount of time to allow applications to start in the element defined for the OC4J instance in opmn.xml. After this value is reached, the application will not be started. This value will be applied to all applications deployed to the instance.
The following example increases the start time value to 1000 seconds for applications deployed to the home OC4J instance:

Index Rebuilding Techniques

As we know from Remote DBA 101 class, the goal of an index is to speed the process of finding data. An index file contains a data value for a specific field in a table and a pointer that identifies the record that contains a value for that field. In other words, an index on the last_name field for a table would contain a list of last names and pointers to specific records—just as an index to a book lists topics and page numbers to enable readers to access information quickly. When processing a request, the database optimizer will choose some or all of the available indexes to efficiently locate the requested rows.

Figure 10-22 illustrates some of the concepts of a B-tree index. The upper blocks contain index data that points to lower-level index blocks. The lowest-level blocks contain every indexed data value and a corresponding rowid used for locating the actual row of data.

Normally, these indexes attempt to manage themselves internally to ensure fast access to the data rows. However, excessive activity within a table can cause Oracle indexes to dynamically reconfigure themselves. This reconfiguration involves three activities:

Index splitting This is when the addition of new table rows cause new index nodes to be created at existing levels (see Figure 10-23).

Index spawning At some point, the Oracle indexes will reach the maximum capacity for the level and the Oracle index will spawn, creating a deeper level structure (see Figure 10-24).

Index node deletion As you may know, Oracle index nodes are not physically deleted when table rows are deleted, nor are the entries removed from the index. Rather, Oracle “logically” deletes the index entry and leaves “dead” nodes in the index tree.

Indexes require rebuilding when deleted leaf nodes appear or when the index has spawned into too many levels of depth. While it is tempting to write a script that rebuilds every index in the schema, bear in mind that Oracle contains many thousands of indexes, and a complete rebuild can be very time consuming. Hence, we need to develop a method to identify those indexes that will get improved performance with a rebuild. Let’s look at a method for accomplishing this task.

One vexing issue with Oracle indexes is that the information for an index rebuild must be gathered from two sources:

The Oracle analyze index compute statistics command:

Once we gather information from these sources, we can generate a report with everything we need to know about the index internal structure:

From this report, we see several important statistics:

The number of deleted leaf nodes The term “deleted leaf node” refers to the number of index nodes that have been logically deleted as a result of row delete operations. Remember that Oracle leaves “dead” index nodes in the index when rows are deleted. This is done to speed up SQL deletes, since Oracle does not have to rebalance the index tree when rows are deleted.
Index height The height of the index refers to the number of levels that are spawned by the index as a result in row inserts. When a large number of rows are added to a table, Oracle may spawn additional levels of an index to accommodate the new rows. Hence, an Oracle index may have four levels, but only in those areas of the index tree where the massive inserts have occurred. Oracle indexes can support many millions of entries in three levels, and any Oracle index that has four or more levels would benefit from rebuilding.
Gets per index access The number of “gets” per access refers to the amount of logical I/O that is required to fetch a row with the index. As you may know, a logical get is not necessarily a physical I/O since much of the index may reside in the Oracle buffer cache. However, any Oracle index with a number greater than 10 would probably benefit from an index rebuild.

After you analyze the report, you may want to consider rebuilding any index where the height is more than three levels, since three levels will support millions of index entries. Note that Oracle indexes will “spawn” to a fourth level only in areas of the index where a massive insert has occurred, such that 99 percent of the index has three levels but the index is reported as having four levels.

The script to make the report is complex because both the validate structure and compute statistics commands must be executed. The following code snippets are used to generate the report.

When to Rebuild Indexes

As you may know, you can easily rebuild an Oracle index with the following command:

ALTER INDEX index_name REBUILD TABLESPACE tablespace_name;

We might want to rebuild an index if the block gets per access is greater than 5, since excessive block gets indicate a fragmented B-tree structure. Another rebuild condition would be cases where deleted leaf nodes comprise more than 20 percent of the index nodes. Another reason to rebuild is when any index shows a depth of 4 or greater.

Automating Index Rebuilds

Now that we have identified the candidates for an index rebuild, we can run the following script during Oracle system downtime to rebuild all of the indexes.

Index rebuilding with the alter index rebuild is a very safe command. If anything goes wrong, Oracle aborts the operation and leaves the existing index in place. Many Remote DBAs regularly schedule index rebuilds during off-hours with no fear that a problem might occur. Here is a handy script for generating the alter index rebuild syntax:

NOTE: It is interesting to note that Oracle indexing has changed dramatically between Oracle7 and Oracle8. While the functions of the indexes remain the same, the sizes of the indexes have been reduced by almost 50 percent.

As we stated, the alter index index_name rebuild command is a very safe way to rebuild indexes. Here is the syntax of the command:

alter index              index_name
rebuild
tablespace tablespace_name
storage (initial new_initial next new_next freelists              new_freelist_number )

Unlike the old-fashioned method of dropping and re-creating the index, the rebuild command does not require a full table scan of the table and the subsequent sorting of the keys and rowids. Rather, the rebuild command will perform the following steps:

Walk the existing index to get the index keys.
Populate temporary segments with the new tree structure.
Once the operation has completed successfully, drop the old tree, and rename the temporary segments to the new index.

As you can see from the steps, you can rebuild indexes without worrying that you will accidentally lose the index. If the index cannot be rebuilt for any reason, Oracle will abort the operation and leave the existing index intact. Only after the entire index has been rebuilt does Oracle transfer the index to the new B-tree.

Most Oracle administrators run this script and then select the index that they would like to rebuild. Note that the TABLESPACE clause should always be used with the alter index rebuild command to ensure that the index is rebuilt in the same tablespace as the existing index. Be aware that you must have enough room in that tablespace to hold all of the temporary segments required for the index rebuild, so most Oracle Remote DBAs will double-size index tablespaces with enough space for two full index trees.

Also note that if you use the PARALLEL option to increase speed when rebuilding indexes, each parallel process will require enough space for the indexes’ initial extent size. Hence, if you rebuild indexes with PARALLEL DEGREE 4, you must have four times the space in the target tablespace.

Next, let’s take a look at the most important topic of this chapter—how to extend STATSPACK to capture table and index statistics.

M.Tech Admission without GATE or Non GATE

After receiving a huge number of requests from readers, I decided to write about admission to M.Tech (Master of Technology) without GATE Score or NON GATE M.Tech. For admission into M.Tech or MS in Engineering everyone have their own reasons and they prepare GATE accordingly. Few students have time and high targets and they start preparing for it well in advance. Most of them take a year break too to attend some coaching classes for making it to IITs.

On the same time, we often see students who are very enthusiastic but could not make it to GATE for some reasons. Few energetic faculty members engineering colleges and universities often try to find a way to get into a good college with minimum or no GATE score. There many reasons, one of them is final exams for engineering or internal test fall during same time making it difficult for them to compete with regular Engineering students or student taking coaching class.

Apart from these, there are few average students who always think of high standards but could not make it to GATE. Once they miss it they lose hope and get into a below standard jobs because of social and financial barriers they have to face for one year. Finally end up not realizing the dream, they dream while joining Engineering studies.
In this post I m trying to give the possible ways of admission into M.Tech and MS by Research course in IITs, NITs, Some very good Universities and State Colleges. Hope this will help you all.

Admission to Indian Institute of Technology (IITs) or National Institute of Technology (NITs) Without GATE score (NON-GATE):
Most of the student can not imagine going to IITs without tough completion, which is a correct assumption. But there are ways to get into IITs and NITs without GATE scores too. Below are the possible cases.
Sponsored Candidates: If you are working in industry for over three year and can prove that your employer is ready to allow you to go to study by letters from authority, you can apply under this category.
There are few seats reserved under this category in both IITs and NITs.
Quality Improvement Program (QIP): This is started by Govt. of India to improve the quality of teaching staff in state colleges by giving them a chance to attend India’s top most engineering schools. All the faculty members with three years plus experience are eligible for this.

Admission to Indian Institute of Information Technology (IIITs):
They conduct their own exam for admission. Anyone can apply and try to get admission for Master of Engineering. These colleges are deemed universities and have good infrastructure and placements.

Admission to Central and State Universities:
Few Central Universities conduct there own exams and few consider GATE scores too. Most of the State University doesn’t get GATE qualified students, therefore they conduct their own written test and interview. Private Deemed Universities:
These days in India there are many professional private universities offering masters in engineering. They conduct their won exam and interview. Admission is easy but they may charge huge fee.

Private Engineering colleges offering Master of Engineering:
AICTE approve many old private engineering colleges to start M.Tech course because of infrastructure and faculty. Admission these are easy but may be expensive. A complete list of private colleges in every state in India is given at “Statewise list of Private Engineering colleges offering M.Tech“.
Part Time Master of Engineering:
Few State universities offer this program with the condition that student must live within the some distance (for example 30KM) radius from universities. Class usually conducted in evening and weekends.

Distance M.Tech Program:
This is most risky program, because many fraud universities offer M.Tech distance program that is not affiliated to any accreditation committee. For good detail about good universities Please read my earlier post on “M.Tech Distance programs in well known and reputed universities”.
I also recomend to think about doing masters abroad as there are lots of good universities in Australia, Canada, Germany and France that gives scholarships to Masters and PhD student. If you want to try please do think about them too.

while surfing the web. It is extremely easy to extract the text stored in the

clipboard to steal your sensitive information. Forward this information to as

many friends as you can, to save them from online frauds!

It is true, text you last copied for pasting (copy & paste) can be stolen when

you visit web sites using a combination of JavaScript and ASP (or PHP, or CGI)

to write your possible sensitive data to a database on another server.

The steps I have followed :-
1. Login as oracle application user
2. Go to $FND_TOP/secure
3. java oracle.apps.fnd.security.AdminAppServer apps/ \AUTHENTICATION ON DBC=
Please check the below example :-

Output will be :-
AUTHENTICATION ON executed successfully - ffus.com_ffus.dbc
5. In the command prompt echo $FORMS60_TRACE_PATH
It will give you the trace path. Make sure the path is set.
6. Open internet explorer
Type the url below :-
http://:/dev60cgi/f60cgi/?&record=collect&log=$FORMS60_TRACE_PATH/
even you can change =$FORMS60_TRACE_PATH and can have your own path but make sure that path has got read and write permission .It is advisable to have default path.
Example is below :-

Now you can generate FRD trace depend upon your situation
It will generate FRD trace file in your $FORMS60_TRACE_PATH directory with the name supplied by you in URL.

Today I am going to continue with 10g Application Server Startup Shutdown Scripts. If you understand 10g AS architecture which consist of Infrastructure Services (Database & Identity Management) & Middle tier Services (Portal & Wireless or BI & Forms)
I am focusing on these two type of Installation & not j2ee & webcache type (which is third middle tier Installation type) in this discussion.
Startup Sequence
As in apps you follow order (first start database & then middle tier services in 10g AS also you follow similar sequences) Order of startup Services in 10g AS should be like
–Start Database Listener
– Start Database
– Start Infrastructure Services
– Start Middle Tier Services
Shutdown Sequence
– Shutdown Middle Tier Services
– Shutdown Infrastructure Services
– Stop Database
– Stop database listener
What utility I should use to startup / shutdown (Bouncing) for 10g AS ?
You can use iasconsole (Browser based console listening in default port 1156) to startup shutdown services
You can also use opmnctl ; command line tool (Oracle Process Management & Notification) control to startup shutdown services
dcmctl utility to start/stop services is now deprecated & should not be used
Lets look at scripts once again

How google detects Invalid Clicks (Adsense)

We always hear that Google has a sophisticated system to detect the invalid clicks, and result in termination of the cheaters' account. But, how can Google do that? In this post, I summarize those ways that Google depends on to detect whether the clicks on your site are invalid or not. Google will not first ban your account immediately. Rather, they will first flag your account and Google will keep a closer eye to your account. In some occasion, they may send you a warning letter to notify your situation; but sometimes not.
1. IP Address

It is the easist and must be recognized by everyone. If those clicks on your ads are originated from the same IP Address as the one used for accessing your AdSense account, your account is flagged.
2. Click Through Rate (CTR)

Normally, Click thru Rate should not excees 10%. Otherwise, Google will flag your account. For your information, normal CTR should ranges from 0.5% - 10%.
3. Physical Location

Google has good tracing software and technology.They can trace traffics origin down to the small town. So, using different computers with different IP address does not secure anything. So, don't try to click your ads in various internet cafes. That will kill you.
4. Cookies

Most home users do not use static IP Address for Internet connection. In most cases just disconnect and reconnect will give you a new IP Address. But don't forget, Google has set cookies on your computer. They can trace these cookies and see whether they originate from the same computer.

5. Click Pattern 1

It is also suspicious when people click on their clicks and then run away immediately (hit-and-run). But normally, people will surf for a while inside your pages and then click on the ads they want.

What other Google services do they provide to us? Here are some: Gmail (most poeple are using it), Google Earth, Google Calendar, Google Search, Google Toolbar, Google Talk, Google Sitemap, Google Desktop, Blogger, or even Youtube (coz Google has just recently acquired it).
9. Search Engine Ranking
Your website is not indexed on any search engine, not linked by any prominent website, but get consistently high traffic? How come people can access your website and click your ads? That will make Google to smell a rat.

10. Webpage design
How about the "Please click a link below" or "donate us by clicking the ads"? These kinds of encouragement is not in line with Google's TOS. Google can use their winning search engine, or even human eyes to check your sites from time to time.

11. Advertisers conversion rate

Ad click is one thing. But does it bring value to the advertisers? If none of the clicks on your site translate to conversion to the advertiser, you are in trouble. First the Smart-Pricing hits, then your AdSense account disabled.

The default, COMPRESS=y, causes Export to flag table data for consolidation into
one initial extent upon import
If you specify COMPRESS=n, Export uses the current storage parameters, including
the values of initial extent size and next extent size.

What is basically says is that if you set compress=y when imported the table size will be same as the exported size. If you set compress=n then things are different as you can see from below.

Oracle OS Kernel Parameters

OS kernel parameters

Oracle’s OS specific installation instructions provide guidelines for the OS configuration, but the settings for the OS parameters can make an enormous difference in Oracle performance.

Because Oracle runs on over 60 different operating systems from a mainframe to a Macintosh, it is impossible to cover every single platform. However, the common configuration issues for UNIX and Microsoft Windows platforms will be presented.

Server Settings for Windows Servers

Windows servers for Oracle are relatively simple when compared to UNIX-based servers. There are only a few major points to cover to ensure that the Windows server is optimized for an Oracle database. The larger Windows servers (e.g. the UNISYS ES7000 servers) can have up to 32 CPUs and hundreds of gigabytes of RAM. They can support dozens of Oracle instances, but many third party applications can hog server resources, causing Oracle performance issues.

Kernel setting for UNIX and Linux servers

In UNIX and Linux, there is much more flexibility in configuration and hundreds of kernel setting that can benefit database performance. Table 14.1 lists some of the most common kernel parameters that influence Oracle:

For details, the OS specific Oracle installation guide should be consulted for details. One of the most common problems with Oracle server configuration is sub-optimal I/O. For example, the most important thing with Linux is enabling direct I/O on the underlying file system. Without that being enabled, Linux will cache files both in the system buffer cache and in SGA. That double caching is unnecessary and will deprive the server of RAM resources. The following section provides a closer look by outlining some of the important Oracle parameters for performance.

1. Can Oracle's Data Guard be used on Standard Edition, and if so how? How can you test that the standby database is in sync?

Oracle's Data Guard technology is a layer of software and automation built on top of the standby database facility. In Oracle Standard Edition it is possible to be a standby database, and update it *manually*. Roughly, put your production database in archivelog mode. Create a hotbackup of the database and move it to the standby machine. Then create a standby controlfile on the production machine, and ship that file, along with all the archived redolog files to the standby server. Once you have all these files assembled, place them in their proper locations, recover the standby database, and you're ready to roll. From this point on, you must manually ship, and manually apply those archived redologs to stay in sync with production.

To test your standby database, make a change to a table on the production server, and commit the change. Then manually switch a logfile so those changes are archived. Manually ship the newest archived redolog file, and manually apply it on the standby database. Then open your standby database in read-only mode, and select from your changed table to verify those changes are available. Once you're done, shutdown your standby and startup again in standby mode.

2. What is the difference between Active Dataguard, and the Logical Standby implementation of 10g dataguard?

Active dataguard is mostly about the physical standby.

Use physical standby for testing without compromising protection of the production system. You can open the physical standby read/write - do some destructive things in it (drop tables, change data, whatever - run a test - perhaps with real application testing). While this is happening, redo is still streaming from production, if production fails - you are covered. Use physical standby for reporting while in managed recovery mode. Since physical standby supports all of the datatypes - and logical standby does not (11g added broader support, but not 100%) - there are times when logical standby isn’t sufficient. It also permits fast incremental backups when offloading backups to a physical standby database.

a) Oracle Data Guard ensures high availability, data protection, and disaster recovery for enterprise data.

b) Data Guard provides a comprehensive set of services that create, maintain, manage, and monitor one or more standby databases to enable production Oracle databases to survive disasters and data corruptions.

c) With Data Guard, administrators can optionally improve production database performance by offloading resource-intensive backup and reporting operations to standby systems.

5. What is Redo Transport Services?

It control the automated transfer of redo data from the production database to one or more archival destinations.

Redo transport services perform the following tasks:

a) Transmit redo data from the primary system to the standby systems in the configuration.
b) Manage the process of resolving any gaps in the archived redo log files due to a network failure.
c) Automatically detect missing or corrupted archived redo log files on a standby system and automatically retrieve replacement archived redo log files from the
primary database or another standby database.

6. What is apply services?

Apply redo data on the standby database to maintain transactional synchronization with the primary database. Redo data can be applied either from archived redo log files, or, if real-time apply is enabled, directly from the standby redo log files as they are being filled, without requiring the redo data to be archived first at the standby database. It also allows read-only access to the data.

7. What is difference between physical and standby databases?

The main difference between physical and logical standby databases is the manner in
which apply services apply the archived redo data:

a) For physical standby databases, Data Guard uses Redo Apply technology, which applies redo data on the standby database using standard recovery techniques of
an Oracle database.

b) For logical standby databases, Data Guard uses SQL Apply technology, which first transforms the received redo data into SQL statements and then executes the
generated SQL statements on the logical standby database.

8. What is Data Guard Broker?

Data guard Broker manage primary and standby databases using the SQL command-line interfaces or the Data Guard broker interfaces, including a command-line interface (DGMGRL) and a graphical user interface that is integrated in Oracle Enterprise Manager. It can be used to perform:

a) Create and enable Data Guard configurations, including setting up redo transport services and apply services
b) Manage an entire Data Guard configuration from any system in the configuration
c) Manage and monitor Data Guard configurations that contain Oracle RAC primary or standby databases
d) Simplify switchovers and failovers by allowing you to invoke them using either a single key click in Oracle Enterprise Manager or a single command in the DGMGRL command-line interface.
e) Enable fast-start failover to fail over automatically when the primary database becomes unavailable. When fast-start failover is enabled, the Data Guard broker determines if a failover is necessary and initiates the failover to the specified target standby database automatically, with no need for DBA intervention.

9. What are the Data guard Protection modes and summarize each?

Maximum availability :

This protection mode provides the highest level of data protection that is possible without compromising the availability of a primary database. Transactions do not commit until all redo data needed to recover those transactions has been written to the online redo log and to at least one standby database.

Maximum performance :

This is the default protection mode. It provides the highest level of data protection that is possible without affecting the performance of a primary database. This is accomplished by allowing transactions to commit as soon as all redo data generated by those transactions has been written to the online log.

Maximum protection :

This protection mode ensures that no data loss will occur if the primary database fails. To provide this level of protection, the redo data needed to recover a transaction must be written to both the online redo log and to at least one standby database before the transaction commits. To ensure that data loss cannot occur, the primary database will shut down, rather than continue processing transactions.

ORA-01555: Snapshot too old

Ask your users to STOP working while you are exporting or try using parameter CONSISTENT=NO

ORA-01562: Failed to extend rollback segment

Create bigger rollback segments or set parameter COMMIT=Y while importing

IMP-00015: Statement failed ... object already exists...

Use the IGNORE=Y import parameter to ignore these errors, but be careful as you might end up with duplicate rows.
